Pan African Towers (PAT), a leading telecommunications infrastructure provider in Nigeria, has announced the appointment of Oladipo Badru as its acting CEO.
Badru, previously the company’s Chief Financial Officer, assumed his new role in November 2024 following the resignation of Azeez Amida, who served as Managing Director and CEO for two and a half years.
In a statement, PAT Chairman Adefolarin Ogunsanya acknowledged Amida’s contributions to the company’s growth. “We wish him well in his future endeavors. Badru will work closely with the executive management team to ensure continuity, and we are confident in his leadership and commitment to our mission,” Ogunsanya said.
Strategic Plans Under New Leadership
With its new leadership in place, PAT aims to bolster its presence in Nigeria’s competitive telecom tower infrastructure market, currently dominated by players such as IHS Towers, American Tower Corporation (ATC), and Helios Towers. The company operates 764 active towers across Nigeria, serving over 1,200 tenants, including mobile network operators like 9mobile and internet service providers such as Spectranet and Smile Communications.
To drive growth, PAT recently secured funding from Development Partners International (DPI) and Verod Capital. Announced on November 27, the funding will support PAT’s plans to triple its tower footprint and address Nigeria’s infrastructure gap through acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
