Nigeria’s Heirs Technologies, a subsidiary under Heirs Holdings, has unveiled plans to revolutionise the country’s IT support landscape in its bid move to boost Nigeria’s position as a global outsourcing hub.
The company has entered into Managed IT Services within which it will offer services like infrastructure management, cybersecurity, cloud services management, and data analytics, among others. The goal is to provide businesses with secure IT environments, enabling them to focus on their core operations while leaving the technology aspect in expert hands.
Heirs Technologies aims to emulate the success stories of outsourcing giants like India and Eastern Europe, leveraging Nigeria’s youthful population and growing developer community. The company is investing in training 75 to 100 talents in 2024 alone, with plans to establish campuses across the country to support outsourcing initiatives.
This move aligns with the Nigerian government’s efforts to tap into the global outsourcing market, estimated to be worth $250 billion. The Outsource to Nigeria Initiative, spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President, aims to create jobs and boost the country’s technology-enabled outsourcing sector.
Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, revealed plans to train three million technical talents over the next four years.
“Ultimately, our strategic intent is to retain at least 1.5 million of these skilled professionals within our local talent pool and facilitate opportunities for another 1.5 million of our talented individuals to excel in the global talent marketplace, preferably through remote opportunities,” Tijani stated in a policy statement.
Executive director of Heirs Technologies, Anant Rao, expressed confidence in the company’s ability to compete with established players in the tech outsourcing space. Speaking on future direction, Rao said, “We want to run IT as a business for our customers and make it very efficient. We want to make Nigeria a serious outsourcing hub. That is where we want to play.”
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Fumbi Chima, also noted that Heirs Technologies’ focus lay in technical support rather than competing in the product space. The company plans to invest in an academy and spread its footprint to university campuses, nurturing the next generation of tech talent in Nigeria.
