The Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has partnered with Konecta, a global telecom consultancy firm, to establish the Konecta Group’s regional headquarters in New Cairo.
The agreement, sealed through a $100 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to bolster Egypt’s standing as a competitive hub for advanced digital services.
Under the MoU, Konecta plans to invest $100 million over three years, creating nearly 3,000 specialized jobs. The initiative will deliver advanced digital and technical services, including artificial intelligence solutions, digital transformation, cybersecurity, big data analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), technical support, and multilingual customer service in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Konecta will establish its first Global Centre of Excellence for Gen-AI in Egypt as part of the expansion. The center aims to support the company’s global delivery operations and capitalize on the knowledge and expertise developed within the group.
Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, emphasized the significance of the investment, stating, “The growth of the offshoring industry and the rising interest from global companies in establishing service centers in Egypt highlight the country’s competitiveness in this thriving sector. Egypt offers high-quality digital services in multiple languages, backed by a skilled talent pool.”
Nourdine Bihmane, Group CEO of Konecta, echoed this sentiment, noting the strategic importance of the partnership. “By establishing our regional headquarters in Egypt, we aim to harness the country’s exceptional talent pool to deliver cutting-edge digital solutions and foster a highly skilled workforce that will shape the future of customer experience globally,” he said.
