Tesla has told employees it is preparing for a public launch of its Cybercab robotaxi service, with Austin, Texas, set to be the starting point as early as this month. The report cited sources with knowledge of the plans
The Cybercab is designed specifically for autonomous driving and does not have conventional driving controls such as steering wheel or pedals. It is crucial to Tesla’s robotaxi ambitions, as the company is planning to eventually deploy the vehicle for its autonomous ride-hailing service

Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja said during the company’s second-quater earnings call thar the company had already saterted testing the cybercab at its Austin factory. “We’ve started doing Cybercab rides in our factiry in Austin” Taneja said.
Tesla is preparing to roll out its Cybercab robotaxi service, starting with employee-only rides on public roads before launching in Austin within a few days, according to the report. In recent weeks, the company has been test-driving, offering employee rides on private roads, and training local first responders. Tesla began testing the production version of the Cybercab on public roads in June, and vehicle production is expected to ramp up later this year.
