Samsung has introduced Scan to Pay, a new QR-based payment feature developed by EFT Corp and integrated into Samsung Wallet, giving Galaxy users in South Africa an additional way to make everyday payments without relying on physical cards.
The new feature enables users to make payments at participating merchants by simply opening Samsung Wallet, scanning a QR code and confirming the transaction. The solution is designed to provide a convenient alternative for consumers making purchases both in stores and through supported online platforms.
By introducing QR payments directly into Samsung Wallet, the service aims to make the checkout process faster and more convenient. Consumers can use the feature when shopping, dining or carrying out other routine transactions, reducing dependence on traditional card-based payment methods.
The service is powered by Scan to Pay, a South African alternative payments provider with more than 600,000 acceptance locations across the country. The company also has more than 19 million app integrations across consumer banking, fintech and financial service applications, giving the service a broad potential reach

The integration further expands the range of financial and digital services available through Samsung Wallet. By bringing QR payments into the platform, Samsung is strengthening its wallet ecosystem and providing Galaxy users with more options for managing everyday digital transactions.
“Samsung doesn’t just focus on tech and AI innovation for Galaxy users. One of the core fundamentals within the product design process is having a deep understanding of what our users do with our devices, and importantly how we can make everyday usage more intuitive and easier. Our Wallet encompasses the true sense of what a Digital Wallet should be; we will continue to add practical innovation within our Wallet functionality,” MX Lead, Product and Commercial, Samsung South Africa, Zahir Cajee stated.
Security is also a key component of the new payment feature. Transactions benefit from Samsung Knox security technology and biometric authentication, allowing users to verify payments using supported biometric methods and adding an extra layer of protection to QR-based transactions.
Scan to Pay is now available through Samsung Wallet at participating locations in South Africa, giving Galaxy users another convenient and secure option for making payments while supporting the country’s growing shift toward digital and cashless transactions.
