Apple has announced that it will delay the launch of three new artificial intelligence (AI) features due to the stringent requirements of the European Union EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), which mandates interoperability with rival products and services.
In early June, Apple unveiled a series of AI-driven features and software enhancements for its iPhone and other devices, aiming to boost sales. The features included Apple Intelligence, capable of generating text, images, and other content on command, which was set to be available on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac with M1 chips and later versions.

Additionally, the iPhone Mirroring feature on macOS Sequoia would allow the phone’s screen to be viewed and interacted with on Mac computers.
However, the company stated that due to regulatory uncertainties, these features—Phone Mirroring, SharePlay Screen Sharing enhancements, and Apple Intelligence—will not be available to EU users this year.
“Specifically, we are concerned that the interoperability requirements of the DMA could force us to compromise the integrity of our products in ways that risk user privacy and data security,” Apple explained in an email.

The company expressed its commitment to collaborating with the European Commission to find a solution that would enable the delivery of these features to EU customers without compromising their safety.
