The Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) has signed a significant agreement with Infratel Africa, a leading telecom company, to advance rural telephony projects across Nigeria.
This partnership aims to provide robust internet connectivity and migrate 100 sites to the NigComSat-1R Ka-band hub platform, ensuring seamless and reliable communication in rural areas.
The NIGCOMSAT’s Chief Executive Officer, Jane Egerton-Idehen, who signed the agreement on behalf of the company, emphasized that the collaboration with Infratel Africa is a strategic development.
She highlighted that this partnership not only positions NIGCOMSAT as a key player in the industry but also aligns with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy’s efforts to improve rural connectivity and bridge the digital divide.
“This collaboration is a welcome development as it places NIGCOMSAT in its rightful position in the industry. It supports the Federal Ministry’s efforts to enhance rural connectivity and bridge the digital divide,” said Egerton-Idehen.
Meanwhile, Egerton-Idehen further assured that the NigComSat-1R satellite capacity will continue to support businesses in expanding telecom networks and improving connectivity across Nigeria. “Together, we are bridging the digital divide and empowering communities with enhanced connectivity,” she added.
The partnership between NIGCOMSAT and Infratel Africa represents a significant step towards achieving better internet connectivity in rural Nigeria, promoting digital inclusion, and supporting the growth of telecom networks in underserved areas.
