Kenya and Germany are strengthening their collaboration in renewable energy and information and communication technology (ICT), marking a significant step forward in their bilateral relationship.
Dr Margaret Ndung’u, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, hosted Dr. Robert Habeck, Germany’s Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, in Naivasha this week to discuss their joint efforts.
The partnership builds on a shared commitment to sustainable development and climate action. “This engagement underscores the Kenya-Germany relationship, built on mutual respect and shared values, as both nations work to address global challenges like access to clean energy and combating climate change,” Dr Ndung’u stated during a press briefing.

John Tanui, Principal Secretary for ICT and Digital Economy, represented Kenya in the ICT sector at Tuesday’s Bridging Markets: German-African IT and Business Process Outsourcing Summit. The summit, a precursor to the German-African Business Summit in Nairobi, showcased Kenya’s growing potential as a regional technology hub.
“By fostering partnerships with global tech firms, Kenya aims to position itself as a regional hub for technology and innovation, attracting significant investments that will bolster its ICT sector,” Tanui said.
These initiatives reflect Kenya and Germany’s commitment to leveraging their partnership for mutual economic growth and global sustainability goals.
