Paystack, one of Africa’s leading fintech companies, has launched a major redesign of its merchant Dashboard-the first complete overhaul in nearly a decade, introducing an intelligent AI-native Command Centre designed to deliver instant, data-driven answers to business questions.
The new Dashboard transforms how thousands of African businesses interact with their payment data. Instead of navigating complex menus, merchants can now ask questions in plain, natural language, such as “What happened with this transaction?” or “Why is revenue down this week?”, and receive accurate, contextual responses in the form of text, tables, or charts, all grounded in their own Paystack data.

Announced today, the rebuild addresses years of growing complexity as Paystack expanded its product offerings. The new interface, built on the company’s internal design system Pax, features a simplified architecture organised into two core sections: Payments and Products. It also delivers full mobile parity, ensuring every feature is seamlessly accessible on mobile devices, alongside a new dark mode option.
At the heart of the redesign is the AI Command Centre, which combines advanced GPT models with structured data retrieval and visualisation tools. To power this capability, Paystack developed Project Canvas API, a new service that securely connects conversational AI with its core systems while maintaining strict data protection and compliance standards. The company conducted extensive safety testing, adversarial simulations, and a full Data Protection Impact Assessment before launch.

“Businesses don’t come to their dashboard to click through pages, they come because they have questions,” said Dara Assim-Ita, Senior Product Designer at Paystack, who led the project. “We’ve changed the Dashboard from a static reporting tool into an intelligent command centre that helps merchants understand what’s happening in their business and make better decisions faster.”
The redesign was informed by extensive merchant research, including tree testing and direct user feedback. While the initial release focuses on core payments modules, Paystack plans to migrate additional products into the new architecture gradually.
This launch underscores Paystack’s commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence to simplify financial operations for African businesses, positioning the company at the forefront of AI-driven fintech innovation on the continent.
