At the core of Dar es Salaam, a new chapter in Tanzania’s digital development is emerging. Wing Africa, a leader in the continent’s digital transformation, has unveiled the second phase of its state-of-the-art data centre—an ambitious $50 million investment poised to reshape the nation’s technological landscape.
At the launch ceremony held in the bustling Mbezi Industrial Area, Wing Africa CEO Anton Volianskyi emphasized the facility’s strategic importance in meeting Africa’s growing demand for advanced data processing and cloud services.
The new Tier 3 data center, now the most connected in Tanzania, links with 13 operators and is designed to deliver high-speed internet while keeping local traffic within the country—a move expected to reduce latency and lower costs for businesses and consumers alike.
“As the world moves towards more data-driven technologies, Africa must be ready to support the power and connectivity requirements of these systems,” Mr. Volianskyi remarked. “This new facility will play a crucial role in ensuring that we meet those demands and continue to lead digital transformation across the continent.”
The expanded facility comes equipped with a 99.983 percent uptime guarantee, ensuring uninterrupted service—an essential feature for industries reliant on constant access to cloud-based operations and digital financial services. This reliability, Mr. Volianskyi noted, is a game-changer for sectors like high-speed trading and e-commerce, where even the slightest delay can have significant impacts.
“In industries like high-speed trading platforms and digital finance, even a fraction of a second of latency can make a huge difference,” he explained. “Our new facility will give Tanzanian businesses an edge by reducing delays and improving efficiency.”

Beyond enhancing connectivity, the investment has also expanded the data centre’s infrastructure with the addition of 80 high-density racks, bringing the total to 110. This upgrade is specifically designed to meet the growing demands of the financial and technology sectors, which require secure and scalable storage solutions.
The financial sector has emerged as a key driver of digital adoption in Tanzania, with banks and fintech companies increasingly relying on advanced data centres to manage transactions and safeguard sensitive customer information. The new Wing Africa facility is expected to provide these businesses with the capacity and reliability needed to thrive in a competitive global market.
The impact of this expansion extends beyond corporate interests. According to Noah Maina, Secretary-General of the Tanzania Internet Service Providers Association (TSPAR), the partnership between Wing Africa and TSPAR will bolster local data traffic management and optimize network performance.
“By extending the internet exchange to Wing Africa’s data center, we ensure that data traffic remains local, improving efficiency, reducing costs, and optimizing network performance for all operators,” Mr. Maina said.
The Tanzanian government’s supportive regulatory environment has played a pivotal role in facilitating investments of this scale. As digital transformation accelerates across the continent, Wing Africa’s expanded data centre positions
