In a landmark achievement, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, has been elected Vice Chair of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council for 2025.
This marks Nigeria’s first leadership role in the ITU Council in nearly 50 years, highlighting the nation’s rising prominence in global digital policy.
The ITU Council, the United Nations’ specialized agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) ‘s the governing body that shapes global telecommunication policies and promotes international cooperation for digital development.
Dr. Tijani will collaborate with Council Chair Ms. Cristiana Flutur and member states to advance inclusive, secure, and sustainable digital initiatives worldwide.
