IHS Nigeria, one of the world’s largest independent telecommunications infrastructure groups, is sponsoring an Art Hackathon as part of the lead-up to the inauguration of the Ilorin Innovation Hub.
The Art Hackathon aims to celebrate creativity and innovation among young Nigerians. It invites artists from Kwara State and across Nigeria to submit works reflecting themes of innovation, creativity, and community development. Winning artists will receive ₦500,000 for each selected entry, and their artworks will be showcased at the Ilorin Innovation Hub, allowing them to leave a lasting legacy.
The submission deadline for entries is November 14, 2024, and interested participants can register and find more information online.
The Ilorin Innovation Hub, a 3,000-square-foot facility developed by the Kwara State Government in partnership with IHS Nigeria, will serve as a center for technological advancement and entrepreneurship. The hub will offer co-working spaces, incubation and acceleration programs, as well as workshops and training on technology and entrepreneurship. It will also provide a networking platform for tech startups, connecting them with investors and funding opportunities.
Kazeem Oladepo, SVP and Chief Operating Officer of IHS Nigeria, emphasized the significance of the intersection between art and technology. “The rapid expansion of digital technology is reshaping the art world in unprecedented ways. This unique relationship between creativity and science inspired us to include an Art Hackathon in the lead-up to the Ilorin Innovation Hub’s opening. We are proud to collaborate with the Kwara State Government in promoting local talent and creating opportunities for young people,” Oladepo said.
The hub is expected to play a key role in fostering technological growth and entrepreneurship in the region, helping innovators and startups bring their projects to life.
