The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) and Dubai Municipality have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the Dubai Horizons project. The project aims to plan drone flight routes and landing sites in the emirate of Dubai.
Under the MoU, both organizations will utilize their expertise in creating geospatial data and their collective knowledge in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sector. The collaboration seeks to establish a streamlined plan and infrastructure for the development of new drone technologies in Dubai.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of DCAA and chairman of Dubai Airports and Emirates Airline and Group, emphasized Dubai’s commitment to strengthening its infrastructure in vital sectors to position itself as one of the world’s leading urban economies. The Dubai Horizons project aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and supports the city’s comprehensive urban plan, aiming to create an optimal environment for the deployment and growth of drone technologies.
The project also aims to align Dubai’s air dome system and unmanned aircraft traffic management with the emirate’s future air mobility plans. By doing so, Dubai aims to enhance its global competitiveness and achieve its ambitious goals.
