IR4LAB, a Saudi-based company specializing in disruptive technologies such as Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence, announced its expansion into Africa during Gitex Africa, held in Morocco. The move demonstrates IR4LAB’s commitment to the African continent and its aim to drive innovation in deep technologies, implementing use cases using their Blockchain solution, DocCerts, and other offerings.
Majd AL AFIFI, CEO and Co-Founder of IR4LAB, recognized the growing presence of blockchain entities in Africa and expressed gratitude for being the first from Saudi Arabia to establish a base in the region with the support of their leadership.
IR4LAB’s participation in Gitex Africa follows their previous involvement in the first World Maintenance Summit 2023 held in Morocco, where they presented on the use of Blockchain in industrial maintenance and inspection. The company has been actively involved in various projects, showcasing real-life examples of the benefits of Blockchain. Additionally, IR4LAB recently announced a collaboration with SGS (Saudi Ground Services) to implement their DocCerts Blockchain management solution for training-related digital documents and licenses at 28 Saudi Arabian airports.

Mohamed El Kandri, CTO and Co-Founder of IR4LAB, expressed excitement about entering the African market, emphasizing the company’s desire to contribute to the growth of Africa’s digital economy, foster innovation, and build local capabilities from Morocco to the entire continent.
El Kandri highlighted the potential role of Blockchain in maintenance 4.0 and the advantages of leveraging the technology in industrial inspection during the event. “According to McKinsey & Company, Africa’s digital economy is projected to exceed $712 billion by 2050, driven by factors such as a youthful population, smartphone adoption, and increased internet penetration.”
IR4LAB’s progress and recognition in the technology sector have led to their acceptance into the Ministry of Communications Information Technology tech champions accelerator program, powered by Silicon Valley’s Plug and Play. Plug and Play, known for its early investments in companies like Google and PayPal, provides support and resources for startups. These achievements position IR4LAB as a key player in advancing digital technologies and driving innovation in both Saudi Arabia and Africa.
