iXAfrica Data Centres, a leading hyper-scale, AI-ready data center in Kenya, has announced a pioneering partnership with Moringa School, a top technology skills provider, to introduce the country’s first comprehensive Data Protection course.
This groundbreaking collaboration will cover cloud fundamentals and data center management, aiming to bolster data security awareness across the nation.
The partnership was officially launched at iXAfrica’s state-of-the-art NBOX1 Data Centre in Nairobi, with the event graced by Kenya’s Data Protection Commissioner, Immaculate Kassait, MBS. The initiative represents a significant step forward in enhancing the skills of technology professionals in Kenya and East Africa, particularly in the fields of data protection and security.
Kenya is a continental leader in data protection, having established its Data Protection Regulation based on the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) standards. The Data Protection Act, enacted in November 2019, marked a new era of data privacy in the country, providing individuals with enforceable rights over their personal information and setting stringent guidelines for public and private entities on responsible data handling.
Moringa School, renowned for its vocational training programs in Software Engineering, Data Science, and Cybersecurity, has identified a critical need for enhanced data compliance skills among business professionals. Their corporate training initiatives, including Safaricom’s Digital Academy, highlight their commitment to equipping organizations with essential data protection expertise.
iXAfrica Data Centres offers robust solutions to help businesses comply with the Office of Data Protection (ODPC) and meet Data Sovereignty requirements. Through this partnership, Moringa School and iXAfrica will deliver a specialized training course on Data Privacy, specifically designed for the business sector.
Nikki Germany, CEO of Moringa School, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Partnering with iXAfrica aligns perfectly with our mission to provide cutting-edge training that addresses the evolving needs of the business sector. By equipping professionals with vital skills in data protection, we’re not just shaping careers; we’re contributing to a secure and innovative digital future for Kenya.”

This partnership with Moringa School will enable us to educate clients on data protection while furthering the ODPC’s mission to localize sensitive data.”
The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, led by Immaculate Kassait, also participated in the launch. Kassait commended the efforts of iXAfrica and Moringa School, emphasizing the importance of data protection compliance measures and congratulating the partners on their initiative to train Data Protection Officers in response to the rapidly evolving ICT and privacy landscape.
