The Tech Innovation Awards (TIA) celebrated its 8th annual event, unveiling winners from across Africa’s ICT and digital economy sectors. Held on November 2, 2024, at the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, this year’s TIA recognized pioneering achievements driving digital transformation in the country and continent.
This year’s awards highlighted key industry players, including MTN Foundation, Digital Realty Nigeria, and IHS Nigeria among others, applauding their significant contributions to technological advancement and digital inclusion across Africa.
The winners exemplify the excellence and innovation needed to fuel Africa’s progress in the global digital economy, reinforcing TIA’s mission to celebrate those shaping the future of technology in the country.
Digital Realty Nigeria was named Datacentre Provider of the Year, with its Chief Executive Officer, Ike Nnamani honoured as Data Center Leader of the Year, underscoring Digital Realty’s critical role in expanding Africa’s data infrastructure.
In the same vein, IHS Nigeria earned both the Telecom Infrastructure Provider of the Year and Tower Leadership Award and was further distinguished as Telecom Infrastructure Team of the Year for its unmatched commitment to telecom infrastructure development in Africa.
Also, MTN Foundation received awards for Transformational Solutions in Education & Skills Acquisition, the coveted Foundation Team of the Year, and Corporate Social Investment Personality of the Year, recognizing Odunayo Sanya, the Foundation’s Executive Director, for her influential leadership.
Other multiple winners are CreditSwitch recognized as Best Customer Centric VAS Brand of the Year and for its Emerging Digital Lifestyle Platform of the Year with SwitchTo931. inq. named MVNO Provider of the Year and awarded Cloud Product of the Year for Fabric by inq.
Meanwhile, Datamellon for Best Cloud Consultant of the Year, with CEO Wale Adedeji named Cloud Personality of the Year. Zoho One for Best Unified Cloud Software Product of the Year, with Country Manager Kehinde Ogundare honoured as IT Personality of the Year.
The TIA 2024 awards also highlighted several other companies and individuals for their contributions to innovation, cloud solutions, customer-centric services, and digital lifestyle enhancements. Noteworthy winners include:
Unicloud for Emerging Cloud Service Provider of the Year, with Open Access Data Centre as Fastest Growing Datacenter of the Year, HIQOS as Technology System Integrator of the Year and Ecobank-eProcess as Best Bank in Cloud Adoption.
Other notable individual awards honoured outstanding leaders, including Dr. Krish Ranganath of Africa Data Centre, who was named Data Centre Personality of the Year; Ayotunde Coker of Open Access Data Centers, recognized as Technology Person of the Year; and Dr. Olubayo Adekanmbi of Data Science Nigeria, awarded AI Person of the Year.
Celebrating Excellence in Technology
Speaking at the event, Akin Naphtal, Group Publisher of Digital Economy Magazine, remarked, “Tonight, we celebrate excellence, resilience, tenacity, and audacious dreamers who are shaping our digital space and pushing the boundaries of what we once thought impossible.”
