Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged developed nations at the 19th G20 Summit in Brazil to extend greater support to developing countries in tackling challenges related to artificial intelligence (AI) and climate change.
Delivering a speech titled “Working Together for a Fair and Equitable Global Governance System,” Jinping emphasized the need for inclusive global governance and collaborative efforts to address pressing global issues.
Speaking during a session on reforming global governance institutions, President Jinping called for enhanced global digital governance and promoting a world economy driven by innovation. He encouraged G20 member states to lead in the digital transformation and integrate the digital economy with traditional economic sectors in emerging markets.
Highlighting AI’s transformative potential, Jinping stressed the importance of international cooperation in its governance, ensuring that AI advancements are accessible and beneficial to all nations. His remarks come at a time when Africa is being urged to harness AI opportunities to fast-track development across various sectors.
Jinping also called on wealthy nations to provide the financial resources, technological support, and capacity-building assistance necessary for developing countries to effectively address these challenges. He underscored the significance of collective action in upcoming UN conferences on climate change and desertification, emphasizing that global cooperation is key to achieving meaningful outcomes.

Reaffirming China’s commitment to sustainable development, Jinping stated that his country is ready to deepen international cooperation in green infrastructure, energy, mining, and transportation. He pledged China’s continued support for developing nations, aligning with global efforts to promote equitable and sustainable progress.
This call for solidarity comes amid growing conversations on the role of AI in shaping the future and the urgent need to combat climate change on a global scale.
