Senegal-based cloud communication start-up, LAfricaMobile has secured $4.6 million in a Series A funding round for expansion its operation across French-speaking Africa.
Founded in 2014, LAfricaMobile enables clients to run extensive communication campaigns using mobile technologies such as SMS, USSD, voice, WhatsApp, airtime, and text-to-speech.
The company has established connections in over 15 countries and with 60 operators, facilitating nearly 100 million transactions. With the new funding, LAfricaMobile plans to broaden its operations significantly.
Fatoumata Bâ, the founder and executive chair of Janngo Capital, expressed her admiration for LAfricaMobile’s vision, team, and technological solutions, highlighting their unique services in a vast market.
Bâ stated: “Indeed, their value proposition at the intersection of telecommunications, marketing, and financial services efficiently addresses a combined market projected to hit $150 billion by 2030.
She added: “We are honored to lead this funding round as a cornerstone investor to support both the expansion of their offering and geographical footprint while improving the accessibility of local content.”
LAfricaMobile plans to use the funding to strengthen its financial position and accelerate its expansion in French-speaking Africa. The company will allocate the funds to expanding operations in Central Africa and further investing in its products, particularly through the integration of artificial intelligence to provide superior value to its customers and partners.

The funding round was led by Janngo Capital and included contributions from French footballers Aurélien Tchouaméni and Jules Koundé. Other investors included VC firms SouthBridge Investments and Ciwara Capital, as well as Expensya founders Karim Jouni and Jihed Othmani.
