Benue State, Nigeria, has partnered with Google to train 10,000 young people in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) across the state. The initiative, announced by Governor Hyacinth Alia, aims to empower the youth with essential digital skills, positioning them to succeed in the growing digital economy.
Governor Alia emphasized the significance of the ICT training program, highlighting its potential to provide young people with the tools they need to build a brighter future. “This initiative is designed to equip youths with the skills needed to compete in the digital economy, opening doors to endless opportunities,” the governor stated.
In addressing the widespread issue of cybercrime, known locally as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo,’ Governor Alia encouraged the state’s youth to take advantage of the training program. He urged them to focus on acquiring valuable skills rather than engaging in illegal activities

The governor also announced additional initiatives to promote youth development in Benue State. He reiterated the administration’s dedication to advancing the future of the state’s young people through strategic partnerships and development programs.
“We understand that the development of our youth is crucial for the advancement of Benue State. This is why we have launched various initiatives geared at empowering you and offering possibilities for your advancement,” Governor Alia added.
