    The Digital Economy Magazine, has named Dr. Sujith Jayaprakash, Rector for BlueCrest University College Ghana as the Digital Economy Personality of the week for Ghana (Feb.19th-25th).
    Dr. Sujith Jayaprakash is a thought leader and a highly decorated domain expert in the field of Computer science and Information Technologies with over a decade of experience. His deep understanding of complex technology concepts, combined with his ability to articulate his ideas and insights clearly, has made him a sought-after voice in the industry.

    He was one of the founding fathers of the BlueCrest University College Ghana and is currently the Rector of the Institution. He also Doubles as the Director of OpenLabs Ghana (Formerly NIIT) – a state-of-the-art training institute that provides groundbreaking Information Technology education to students and professionals in Ghana. Additionally, he holds the position of Director at the BlueCrest University College School of Fashion.

    Dr. Jayaprakash possesses an extensive and diverse knowledge and expertise that extends beyond the technology infrastructure of Africa to encompass Asia and Latin America as well. In 2008, he joined NIIT as a Technical Trainer for Java, J2EE, and Web Designing Technologies in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where he worked for nearly two years. He was then promoted to the position of Center Manager of NIIT/i2000 Limited in Accra in 2010 and shortly thereafter, he assumed the role of Registrar at BlueCrest College. In 2012, he was appointed as Academic/Technical Head at Aptech/Meridian Technologies in Lagos, Nigeria.

    After serving as Registrar of BlueCrest College for nine years, he was named Director of Outreach and Collaborations at BlueCrest College and School of Fashion & Design in June 2019, a position he held for a year. In March 2020, he added the titles of Director of OpenLabs Ghana and Director of the BlueCrest School of Fashion to his list of accomplishments. Finally, in April 2022, Dr. Sujith was appointed Rector of the BlueCrest University College, in addition to his existing positions as Director of OpenLabs Ghana and Director of the BlueCrest School of Fashion.

    The tech veteran is an innovation-driven leader who believes in investing in the younger generation, the skills of emerging digital technologies to groom them on a tech-savvy trajectory for the future. Under his leadership, the BlueCrest University college rolled out a free online training program for female children in python coding. Dubbed “Coding for kids”, the initiative is aimed equipping the girl-child with this important skillset, so they are able to better position themselves for the technology-centered future ahead. He is also a mentor under the Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Challenge Prize (GSTEP) – an initiative designed to inspire, motivate, and aid Junior High School (JHS) students and teachers in Ghana to cultivate practical skills and produce technology-based solutions in the fields of Science, Technology,

    Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) that have a positive impact on their local communities. Under his expert leadership as Registrar and later as Rector, BlueCrest University College through the implementation of cutting-edge, technology-based teaching methods has become the number one university college in Ghana for Information Technology and Fashion. The college has received numerous recognitions for its growth and success, which is a testament to his vision and expertise.

    Dr. Sujith holds a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) from SNS Rajalakshmi College of Arts and Science. He went on to earn a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Computer Science from Bharathiar University in India. Furthering his academic pursuits, he enrolled at Periyar University, where he received a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) degree in Computer Science. He then went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from Bharathiar University. To round out his educational achievements, Dr. Sujith participated in a program on Leadership by Design at Stanford Continuing Studies.
    Dr. Jayaprakash in 2021 received a plaque of honour from the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) for his outstanding contributions to students’ growth and development in Ghana.
