Bayobab Nigeria has announced the appointment of Mazen Mroué as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Digital Infrastructure. In his new role, Mroué will oversee Bayobab’s Fixed Infrastructure and Communication Platforms business units.
He is also tasked with executing the company’s Data Centre Business Strategy, which aims to position Bayobab for growth and profitability while advancing artificial intelligence (AI) development across Africa.
Mroué, a seasoned leader in the telecommunications and technology sectors, brings over 26 years of experience, a visionary approach, and a proven track record in driving innovation and achieving results. His leadership marks a pivotal moment for Bayobab as the company accelerates its growth trajectory, deepens its industry impact, and sets new benchmarks in digital infrastructure.
Mroué’s illustrious career includes a series of prominent leadership roles at MTN and other global organizations. Since January 2025, he has served as CEO of MTN, based in the United Arab Emirates, where he focuses on driving growth, enhancing digital transformation, and fostering innovation within the multinational telecommunications giant.
Commenting on his appointment, Mroué expressed his commitment to steering Bayobab toward greater achievements.

In addition to his role at MTN, Mroué has been a Non-Executive Director and Board Member at Bayobab since June 2022, contributing significantly to the company’s vision of advancing digital infrastructure across Africa.
His expertise extends further as he holds the position of Group Chief Technology & Information Officer for MTN, based in South Africa since February 2022, where he oversees the group’s technology strategy and the deployment of cutting-edge solutions.

Beyond his roles within MTN, Mroué has actively contributed to global business as an investor and board member. In September 2024, he joined Rentit4me in India as a Non-Executive Director, where his insights have driven growth in the digital rental marketplace.
Additionally, since May 2023, he has served as an Investor and Non-Executive Director for Shalkat Pte. Ltd. in Singapore, supporting the company’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
