AXIAN Group has appointed Ahmad Mokhles Aly El-Deen as Group Chief Executive Officer, placing a veteran of African and Middle Eastern telecommunications and digital infrastructure at the head of its multi-country technology portfolio.
El-Deen assumes the role with a mandate to architect, build and scale the critical platforms that will underpin the next generation of the digital and artificial-intelligence economy. His brief spans AI factories, hyperscale and high-performance computing data centres, and the orchestration of strategic partnerships with global hyperscalers, cloud providers and leading technology ecosystems.
The aim is to turn infrastructure capacity into scalable compute, sovereign cloud and AI capability for governments, enterprises and digital-native businesses.
Beyond physical assets, he will oversee a portfolio covering artificial intelligence, cloud, cybersecurity, advanced computing, digital infrastructure and mission-critical ICT solutions, integrating these into end-to-end propositions across multiple markets.

At the centre of the mandate is a strategic shift from infrastructure ownership to intelligent infrastructure orchestration: converging data centres, high-performance computing, cloud, AI, connectivity and cybersecurity into a single platform capable of accelerating enterprise transformation and enabling AI at scale.
“The ambition is not simply to build data centres,” the direction of the role makes clear. “It is to build the computational and digital foundations of the AI economy — creating the infrastructure, partnerships and technology ecosystems required to transform data into intelligence and intelligence into sustainable economic value.”
El-Deen brings a career forged across operators, infrastructure groups and commercial leadership in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. He most recently served as Senior Advisor to the Group Chief Executive Officer of stc in Riyadh. Before that, he spent several years at Liquid Intelligent Technologies in London, first as Group Chief Operating Officer for networks and data centres, and then as Chief Executive Officer of Digital Infrastructure.
Earlier, he was Chief Operating Officer for Airtel Africa in Nigeria, Chief Consumer and Digital Business Officer at du in Dubai, and Chief Commercial Officer at Asiacell in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He also held the role of Group Senior Vice President, Commercial, at e&, and began his telecommunications career in commercial planning at Mobinil in Cairo, after an early internship with Procter & Gamble.
His appointment signals AXIAN’s intent to compete not only as an owner of digital infrastructure, but as an orchestrator of the compute, cloud and security platforms on which the region’s AI economy will run.
