Liquid Intelligent Technologies has successfully extended its fiber network in Botswana, creating the first direct connection from northern Botswana along the A1 route.
The newly expanded network, spanning approximately 730 kilometers, links key communities including Francistown, Mahalapye, and Palapye.
Describing the project as a significant milestone, Odirile Tamajobe, Managing Director of Liquid Botswana, highlighted its potential to strengthen the nation’s economic hubs and connect major commercial centers.
“The high-speed connectivity access will benefit urban centers and rural communities along the route, expanding our presence in Botswana and the continent through the One Africa Digital Network,” Tamajobe said. “It will bring additional multi-terabit capacity and resilience to the region.”
Beyond enhancing local connectivity, the fiber network positions Botswana as a regional digital hub. The expansion serves as a country connector, linking with Liquid’s fiber networks in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sudan.
This integration aims to establish a robust, cross-border digital infrastructure, supporting Africa’s digital transformation agenda.
Cassava Technologies, the parent company of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, emphasized that the project aligns with its broader mission of investing in Africa’s digital infrastructure.

“This initiative empowers local Internet Service Providers to expand services to retail customers, indirectly benefiting households and creating regional employment opportunities,” the company stated.
Supported by local contractors, the project is a key contributor to Botswana’s national digital transformation strategy. Liquid noted that the network would deliver critical connectivity for businesses, commercial hubs, financial institutions, educational facilities, and the hospitality sector in towns along the route.
“This development reinforces Botswana’s ambition of becoming a digitally connected and economically empowered nation,” the company added.
