Microsoft continues the work on improving the experience with the Android apps on Windows 11, this was announced by the company this week on newest update for its users.
The Windows Subsystem for Android, which is the component that makes it possible for users to run Android apps on top of Windows 11, has received a new pack of improvements.

And according to Microsoft’s own changelog, this new version comes with substantial performance optimizations, including for framerates. As it turns out, Microsoft has managed to achieve better numbers that go up as high as 20 percent on ARM devices and 50 percent on x64.
This is fantastic news when it comes to the performance of Android apps on Windows 11, especially because in some cases, these apps aren’t necessarily feeling at home on the desktop operating system.
Microsoft says the February 2023 pack of improvements for the Windows Subsystem for Android also includes a new Chromium WebView version, as well as the typical security updates that are shipped every month.
These are all improvements in the new release:
- Improved audio input latency and reliability
- Improvements to camera experience (camera metadata now exposed to camera apps)
- Improvements to framerate performance: certain benchmarks have improved by 10%-20% on ARM and 40%-50% on x64
- Fixed zooming out in apps using touchpad or mouse
- Improvements to platform reliability
- Using latest Chromium WebView to version 108
- Synchronizing global microphone and camera privacy toggles between Windows and Android apps
- Android 13 security updates
These and more are available to be enjoyed by all android users and for testers to validates. Microsoft hopes testers would provide the company with feedback in order to prepare a better Android app experience for all Windows 11 users.
