TikTok has been banned from UK government-issued mobile devices due to security concerns related to the Chinese-owned social media app, according to reports. The announcement was made by Cabinet Office minister, Oliver Dowden, who said that TikTok “could” pose a risk to how government data is used. The decision was made to prioritise the security of sensitive government information, and the use of other data-extracting apps will be kept under review. DMCC, the Dubai-based free zone and government authority on commodities trade and enterprise, has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with South Korean entities to expand Dubai’s position as a hub for Web3 businesses worldwide. The agreements were made with the Korea Blockchain Industry Promotion Association (KBIPA) and Seongnam City during DMCC’s Made for Trade Live roadshows in South Korea. Kenya’s Defence Cabinet Secretary, Aden Duale, has praised the Italian government for establishing an international center for space education at the San Marco Luigi Broglio Space Center in Ngomeni, Kilifi County. Embu Stadium, which is set to host the Madaraka Day celebrations, is undergoing renovations using precast technology, according to the contractor in charge of the project. Sagar Saghani, the contractor, revealed that the stadium will be the second in Kenya to use precast technology, following Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu County. The Nakuru County Government has launched a training program aimed at equipping the youth with skills in alternative building technology. The program, which will use cheaper building materials, is expected to increase the supply of affordable housing in the county. Nigeria has launched a $618 million fund under the Digital and Creative Enterprises Program (i-DICE) to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in the digital technology and creative industries. The fund is made up of contributions from the African Development Bank, Agence Francaise de Development and the Islamic Development Bank, as well as private sector and institutional investors. The Nigerian federal government will also contribute through the Bank of Industry, with a counterpart contribution of $45 million in loans for qualifying startups.
