Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has entered into two agreements with Google, underscoring the United Arab Emirates’ commitment to advancing AI research and sustainability. The announcements were made during an event at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), where the ITC unveiled two groundbreaking initiatives.
One of the initiatives, named Project Green Light, employs AI techniques to collect and analyze traffic data at intersections. By leveraging this analytical system, the ITC aims to enhance the efficiency of traffic lights, alleviating traffic congestion and reducing CO2 emissions across the emirate.

The second initiative utilizes Google’s AI Platform to analyze extensive data generated from Google Maps. Through this analysis, the system forecasts traffic patterns and identifies congestion-prone areas, enabling the development of proactive plans to minimize traffic congestion. Additionally, the ITC will receive real-time data from Google Maps regarding accident updates and areas of traffic congestion, facilitating prompt responses to these incidents.
