Bayanat and Yahsat have announced a comprehensive Space Program aimed at developing national satellite remote sensing and Earth Observation (EO) capabilities in the UAE. The program, part of their partnership with ICEYE, a Finnish SAR satellite manufacturer, aims to capitalize on business opportunities in the local and global EO market.
Bayanat, an ADX listed company specializing in AI-powered geospatial solutions, plans to build a constellation of at least five SAR low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. This constellation will provide a consistent data stream for end-to-end SAR applications, covering the entire value chain. The partnership will leverage Yahsat’s satellite infrastructure and innovative solutions, along with Bayanat’s AI and data analytics expertise, to offer valuable geospatial insights to various industries.

SAR technology allows for active sensing of the Earth’s surface, providing high-resolution images day and night, regardless of weather conditions. ICEYE’s SAR satellites offer wider coverage or higher resolution images compared to other New Space SAR satellite services.
The program represents a significant step towards establishing a comprehensive space ecosystem in the UAE, including the development of satellite manufacturing capabilities within the country.
