Rwanda car dealership, AUTO24, has introduced Tesla vehicles to the Rwandan market, following a campaign it launched in late 2023, encouraging customers to switch from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric ones.
The official presentation of the first two Tesla Model Y vehicles took place on Friday, 22nd March. AUTO24 Rwanda’s Country Manager, Ivan Ruzibiza, expressed the dealership’s commitment to embracing e-mobility, noting its importance as the transportation mode of the future.
Ruzibiza highlighted the Rwandan government’s initiatives to promote electric vehicles (EV) and attract investments in this field, which aligns with the car dealership’s vision of fostering a greener and more sustainable future.
The Tesla Model Y, renowned for its impressive driving range, cost-effectiveness, and spacious interiors, has gained global acclaim within the EV sphere. With over 2.16 million units delivered since its launch in 2019, the Model Y remains one of the most sought-after electric vehicles worldwide.
Automotive Commercial Director at AUTO24 Rwanda, Ernest Bugingo, spoke on the swift global shift towards EVs, driven by environmental concerns and technological advancements. He noted the significance of making brand-new and luxury vehicles accessible to everyone.
Bugingo described the launch of the Tesla Model Y in Rwanda as revolutionary, highlighting its appeal to a wider audience as an SUV that shares components with the highly acclaimed Model 3.
At AUTO24 Rwanda, the 2024 Tesla Model Y Long Range is priced at $58,000 (approximately Rwf74.1 million), offering customers a luxurious driving experience with advanced features and safety measures.
