Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei is turning to patents for a lifeline as the company seeks to forge a path forward in advanced chip technology — the prized tech which the U.S. is trying to cut off from China. In 2022, Huawei announced it signed more than 20 new or extended licensing agreements for its patents. Most were with automakers, for 4G and LTE wireless technology, the company said. America’s Frontier Fund (AFF) announced to the public it is assembling a group of 12 finance, policy, and technology experts to join its newly formed Strategic Innovation Group. Tyneside touch tech specialist Zytronic has invested around £400,000 into new equipment to boost its manufacturing operations. The Blaydon based business has invested in a second laser soldering system within a factory cleanroom, which directors say allows Zytronic to leverage the latest production technology.
