MTN Group has announced the appointment of Ali Monzer as CEO of MTN South Sudan, effective 1 April 2024, succeeding Gordian Kyomukama, who is set to retire after a distinguished career with MTN.
MTN announced the new appointment on its LinkedIn page.
Speaking on the appointment, MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita said, “I am pleased to have Ali spearheading our operations in South Sudan and believe he will add immense value to the market. His wealth of experience and proven track record in technology and operations make him well-positioned to drive MTN South Sudan’s continued growth and success.”
Mupita also appreciated Gordian Kyomukama for his invaluable leadership and contributions throughout his tenure with the company, adding, “I wish to take this opportunity to thank Gordian Kyomukama for always displaying vigour, determination, and an exemplary work ethic in his role.”
Who is Ali Monzer?
Ali Monzer joined MTN in 2004, and brings over two decades of telecommunications industry experience to his new role. He holds a master’s degree in computer communication engineering and relevant industry certifications.
Through his telecommunications journey, Ali gained transferable skills in Middle East and Africa (MEA), Central, East and West Africa region with professional and international experience in telco (CDMA/GSM/WCDMA/LTE) service delivery. He is also skilled in project and solutions management, and customer experience & management, specialising primarily in Operation Management (IT & Core).
Fluent in Arabic, French, English & Swahili, Ali has excellent communications and interpersonal skills which he has used to lead teams in achieving multi million dollars projects.
Since joining MTN Group, Ali has held progressively senior positions, most recently as Chief Technology and Information Officer of MTN Uganda. He also served as the General Manager of Service Delivery at MTN Ghana, and as the General Manager Solution Delivery of MTN Nigeria.
In all his roles, he demonstrated success in operational efficiency, team management, cost optimisation, market growth and customer experience enhancement.
