Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has announced a new mixed reality (MR) program in India. The program includes a grant of $250,000 for Indian startups and developers to create apps and experiences in the field of mixed reality. Five winners will be selected to receive the grant and participate in the program.
Mixed reality combines physical reality and digital content, allowing for interaction between real-world and virtual objects. Meta aims to foster innovation and develop an ecosystem of extended reality (XR) technologies in India through this fund.
The grant will support developers in building apps using Meta’s Presence Platform, which encompasses machine perception and artificial intelligence capabilities for the Meta Quest Platform and metaverse. Selected developers and startups will not only receive financial support but also benefit from dedicated mentoring and guidance provided by experts from Meta Reality Labs.
