Kenya’s Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui, has engaged the Co-Founder of iWorkersKenya, Ms. Frida Mwangi, in a discussion on strategies for fostering a beneficial environment for Kenya’s digital sector.
Founded in 2023, iWorkersKenya is a pioneering organisation dedicated to providing support to digital workers. The organisation focuses on community building, and providing support to enhance the overall productivity and well-being of digital professionals.
Eng. Tanui shared the news of the meeting on his LinkedIn page, emphasising the importance of this collaboration in creating a supportive ecosystem for Kenya’s growing number of digital workers. The discussion centred on potential joint initiatives to enhance skill development, provide necessary resources, and ensure the well-being of digital workers across the country.
“iWorkersKenya offers comprehensive support to digital workers through community building, upskilling programs, and wellness support,” Eng. Tanui stated in his post. He added that the meeting with Ms Mwangi saw them discussing, “strategies for collaboration to foster a conducive environment for digital workers in Kenya.”
This initiative aligns with the broader goals of Kenya’s digital transformation agenda, which aims to leverage technology for economic growth and job creation. Kenya’s president, William Ruto has seen to the launching of multiple digital hubs in its counties, as part of the country’s digital drive.
By partnering with organisations like iWorkersKenya, the government is taking proactive steps to ensure that digital workers have access to the necessary tools and support to thrive in the digital economy.
