Ericsson and Mobily have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at LEAP 2026 to strengthen network operations and optimisation while advancing network automation. The partnership will support Mobily’s goal of achieving Level 4 network autonomy in selected use cases, with AI and autonomous networks at the centre of its strategy. The initiative also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation goals under Vision 2030.

The MoU provides a framework for Ericsson and Mobily to jointly develop and deploy autonomous network use cases through the Ericsson Operations Engine (EOE). The initiative builds on Mobily’s existing operational model, which has supported the development of its network operations over the years. The collaboration will focus on using AI and goal-based automation to improve network management and optimisation as Mobily works toward greater network autonomy.

As part of the agreement, Ericsson and Mobily will examine a range of applications covering operations automation, self-healing networks, network optimisation and energy management across Mobily’s multi-vendor network environment.

The partnership will also assess how increased network autonomy can reduce reliance on manual intervention, improve the utilisation of existing network infrastructure and create potential opportunities for network monetisation. These efforts are intended to help transform Mobily’s network operations through higher levels of automation and intelligence.

The new agreement strengthens Ericsson and Mobily’s 20-year partnership, including several years of deploying the Ericsson Operations Engine and ongoing work to introduce AI into network operations and optimisation. Both companies will continue to collaborate to advance Autonomous Network Operations, supporting Mobily’s digital transformation objectives and contributing to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
