Bolt, a prominent ride-hailing and gig economy firm, has announced surpassing 250 million rides in Nigeria since its inception in 2016. The company has also logged an impressive 3 billion kilometres in total travel distance by customers. Bolt Nigeria reported a remarkable seven-fold growth since its launch, marking a significant milestone as it celebrates its tenth year of global operations.
Yahaya Mohammed, the Country Manager of Bolt Nigeria, emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to providing excellent service and collaborating with stakeholders for the advancement of the ride-hailing industry in Nigeria. He reiterated the company’s focus on delivering safe, affordable, and dependable rides to users.
One notable initiative is the Women at the Wheel Exchange, a dedicated program aimed at advancing women’s empowerment. This campaign seeks to address the underrepresentation of women in the ride-hailing sector by offering them the same earning opportunities that Bolt drivers enjoy. With a commitment of €2.5 billion to this initiative made three months ago, Bolt aims to tackle the gender disparity prevalent in the mobility industry, where male dominance prevails, leaving limited opportunities for women.
Highlighting Bolt Nigeria’s achievements, it has achieved nearly 300 million rides. The Country Manager attributes this success to the availability of reliable mobility options for riders. Additionally, the company introduced an innovative safety feature known as audio trip recording. This feature empowers both riders and drivers to initiate audio recordings of their trips within the Bolt app. It provides a practical solution in scenarios where passengers or drivers may feel uneasy during the journey.
Continuously striving to enhance the user experience, Bolt Nigeria consistently updates its app and services. Over the years, various updates have been rolled out, with a recent highlight being the introduction of Scheduled Rides. This feature, introduced last week, allows riders to book trips up to 72 hours in advance, providing a higher level of convenience, albeit at a slightly higher cost. These improvements signify Bolt’s commitment to delivering safer, more convenient, and reliable transportation services to its users.
