In response to a recent decline in device sales, Apple is gearing up to launch several new models in early 2024, with a lineup which includes an upgraded MacBook Air with a faster M3 processor, marking a move towards in-house design for the chip.
According to sources cited by Bloomberg News, two more updated iPad models are in the works to reinvigorate the tablet segment.
A notable feature of the new iPad Air is the introduction of two different sizes, offering users more choice. The Pro model, on the other hand, is expected to feature OLED screens, enhancing the display technology for an improved user experience. However, Apple has not officially commented on these reports.
The US tech giant has been contending with a prolonged period of declining sales for its Macs and iPads. Together, these product lines contribute nearly 15% to Apple’s overall revenue. Economic factors such as persistent inflation and high borrowing costs have led consumers to cut back on non-essential purchases, impacting Apple’s device sales.
In a recent holiday-quarter sales forecast, Apple projected figures below Wall Street estimates, attributing the weakness in demand to iPads and wearables. Meanwhile, the Mac business faces challenges amid a broader slump in the personal computer market.
The new iPad models are expected to be unveiled around the end of March, with additional reports suggesting that Apple is also working on revamped versions of accessories such as the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard for the Pro model of the device.
