ADYA Inc, a Canadian-listed telecom and technology holding company, has made a strategic investment in Karrier One, a decentralized wireless infrastructure provider (DePIN), to deploy the country’s first fully sovereign, SCION-encrypted Internet network.
Built on the Sui Layer-1 blockchain, the initiative will deliver carrier-grade, cryptographically secure connectivity across urban centres, rural communities, and Canada’s Arctic territories.
The partnership addresses escalating geopolitical and cybersecurity risks by integrating SCION – a next-generation Internet protocol developed at ETH Zurich and already used by global financial institutions and defence networks – with Karrier One’s decentralized model and Ericsson’s programmable radio technology.
The result is path-aware routing that prevents traffic hijacking, surveillance, and cross-border leakage while ensuring compliance with Canadian spectrum regulations.
Samer Bishay, CEO of both ADYA Inc. and Karrier One, declared: “Canada must not be left behind in the race for digital sovereignty. By investing in SCION-backed infrastructure, we’re ensuring our Arctic communities, Indigenous populations, and defence installations are not only connected, but protected.”

Christian Thompson, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation, welcomed the move: “Karrier One is setting a global precedent, and Sui is proud to provide the foundation for infrastructure that’s secure, smart, sovereign, and built to scale with national priorities.”
Nishant Grover, President of Ericsson Canada, added: “We’re proud to partner with Karrier One to support the deployment of sovereign, secure, and scalable telecom infrastructure that aligns with our vision of limitless connectivity.”
Rollout has already commenced in Canada’s North using licensed spectrum from Iristel and Ice Wireless subsidiaries. Karrier One is also finalising an Over-The-Top (OTT) softphone app that combines SCION encryption, AI assistance, and a decentralized wallet, enabling users to message, transfer digital assets, and transact using only a phone number.
