Nigerian B2B fintech, Duplo, has obtained both Systems Integrator (SI) and Access Point Provider (APP) licences from the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), positioning the company as a key enabler in the country’s ongoing shift to mandatory digital tax compliance.
The dual accreditation allows Duplo’s platform to generate NRS-compliant electronic invoices, integrate business systems with the government’s Merchant Buyer Solution (MBS) e-invoicing platform, transmit validated invoices directly to the NRS in real-time, and facilitate seamless payment settlement and reconciliation—all within a single unified ecosystem.
“Africa’s next growth phase requires robust financial systems, not temporary patches,” said Yele Oyekola, CEO and Co-Founder of Duplo. “By securing both licences, we are providing the single operational layer that finally connects payments, invoicing, and tax logic.”
The move aligns with Nigeria’s phased rollout of its Electronic Fiscal System (EFS) and e-invoicing regime under the NRS. Launched for large taxpayers (annual turnover above ₦5 billion) in late 2025, the system expands to medium taxpayers (₦1 billion to ₦5 billion) with go-live set for July 1, 2026, and full compliance enforcement following shortly thereafter.
Non-compliance carries steep penalties, including ₦200,000 administrative fines, daily penalties of ₦10,000, a 100% surcharge on unreported transactions, and the inability to claim input VAT on unstamped invoices—potentially disrupting B2B operations.

Duplo’s SI licence enables direct connection of businesses’ ERP and software systems to the MBS for accurate invoice generation, while the APP licence authorises secure transmission to the NRS engine for validation. Once approved, invoices can be settled instantly on Duplo’s platform, streamlining workflows and reducing manual intervention.
Founded in 2021 by Oyekola and Tunde Akinnuwa, Duplo provides financial infrastructure for African businesses, handling payments, invoicing, reconciliation, and operational automation. The company joins a select group of NRS-accredited providers—including e-Tranzact, Bluechip Technologies, and others—specialising in secure data transmission and e-invoicing solutions.
As the July 2026 deadline for medium taxpayers approaches, Duplo is emphasising its integrated approach, distinguishing it from payment gateways like Moniepoint and Flutterwave or accounting tools like Bumpa by embedding full tax compliance alongside payments.
“Our dual-licence status allows businesses to bridge their existing ERPs directly to the national e-invoicing architecture, ensuring every transaction is validated by the NRS and settled on our platform in one seamless motion,” Oyekola added. “You don’t scale payment operations by adding headcount—you scale by automating decisions and standardising the infrastructure of your business.”
