Angola Cables has established TelCables Europe as its European subsidiary, aiming to support its growing global network.
The new entity will serve as a digital bridge, particularly for Portuguese-speaking countries, and provide digital solutions across Europe and the Mediterranean, including peering, cloud services, voice services, and interconnectivity solutions.
As part of its expansion strategy, Angola Cables has signed an agreement with Start Campus to establish a point of presence (PoP) at the SINES data center in Portugal, a carrier-neutral facility owned by Start Campus.
According to Samuel Carvalho, Chief Marketing Officer of Angola Cables, Portugal is rapidly becoming a major digital hub for connectivity, serving as a key entry and exit point for data traffic to and from Europe.
“The SINES data center is emerging as one of the most important continental exchange points in Portugal and Europe,” said Carvalho. “Having a presence in Europe allows us to connect with key subsea cables like EllaLink, Monet, and SACS, facilitating data traffic between Europe, the US, South America, and Africa.”
From SINES, TelCables Europe can connect customers to over 66 data centers worldwide, 40 PoPs across Europe, and more than 400 connected cloud platforms through its 100G scalable, ultra-low latency global network. This also provides customers alternative and diversified routing options to Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas via Angola Cables’ subsea and partner networks.
Angola Cables already provides low-latency connections and IP Transit services from Europe to the US and South America via the EllaLink cable. Its network includes the Atlantic ring of subsea cables—Monet, SACS, and WACS—offering multiple redundancy options for businesses that require reliable international connectivity.

Angelo Gama, CEO of Angola Cables, highlighted that the launch of TelCables Europe is a logical move in the company’s global expansion. He pointed to Portugal’s strategic position as a gateway to Europe, emphasizing that by 2026, the country is expected to host 124 cable landing stations worldwide, connecting 75 countries across five continents.
“We aim to strengthen connectivity and partnerships between Africa, Europe, and beyond, bringing together continents and countries through more efficient, flexible, and secure digital connectivity,” said Gama.
Robert Dunn, CEO of Start Campus, welcomed Angola Cables and TelCables Europe to the SINES DC ecosystem, noting that their presence enhances the connectivity options available to clients seeking connections to markets in Brazil, Africa, and beyond.
