Moniepoint is restructuring its product and engineering departments as part of a strategic shift aimed at improving efficiency, accelerating product development and supporting its next phase of growth. The changes will make some existing positions redundant while creating new roles within the company.
The fintech plans to adopt a platform-group model comprising smaller, specialized teams responsible for specific product areas. Under this structure, each team will oversee its products throughout the entire process, from development to deployment and ongoing operations.
“As part of Moniepoint’s regular strategic review of operations, the management is restructuring the Engineering and Product functions for the next stage of growth,” the company said. “The company is moving to a structure of platform groups made up of small, focused product-area teams, each owning what it builds from end to end.”
According to Moniepoint, the new structure will give teams greater autonomy and clearer accountability for the products they develop. The company also expects the changes to speed up product development and strengthen system reliability as it expands its customer base and enters new markets.

The restructuring follows the company’s earlier decision to discontinue Monieworld, its remittance product serving the UK-Nigeria corridor, in August 2026, after approximately 18 months of operation. However, Moniepoint has described the current changes as part of its broader strategic review of how its product and engineering functions operate.
Under the new model, some positions will be eliminated while others will be introduced to meet the company’s evolving technical needs. One of the new roles will include platform architects, who will be responsible for designing and overseeing the systems used by individual platform groups.
“The new structure requires fewer roles in some areas, while creating new ones, including platform architects who will design and oversee the systems each platform group builds on.”
Moniepoint says employees whose positions become redundant will be considered for suitable vacancies elsewhere in the business where possible. If no appropriate positions are available, the company will initiate a redundancy consultation process.
