Cassava Technologies, an African technology company, has strengthened its artificial intelligence infrastructure by adding NVIDIA’s Nemotron AI models to its AI Factory. The step is meant to widen access to advanced AI tools for businesses and developers across the continent.

The Nemotron models are now available on the Cassava AI Multi-Model Exchange (CAIMEx), a platform where organisations can tap into a range of AI models through application programming interfaces (APIs). This gives businesses more choice when building and deploying AI-driven applications, without necessarily having to spend on large-scale computing infrastructure of their own.

NVIDIA’s Nemotron models are built for advanced reasoning, workflow automation and interaction with digital tools. These strengths can support use cases in customer service, business process automation, software development and enterprise information management. Developers can also use the models to build applications tailored to the needs of specific industries and business operations.

Cassava is also bringing in NVIDIA OpenShell technology, which allows AI agents to run in a more controlled way, especially when automated systems work with business software and sensitive data.

The expansion further includes token optimisation technology, designed to reduce the repeated processing of information that has already been analysed. According to Cassava, this should improve computing efficiency and could lower the running costs of some AI workloads. The actual savings, however, will depend on factors such as workload complexity, customer usage patterns and the pricing structure of individual services.

The development comes as more businesses across Africa explore AI to boost productivity, streamline operations and deliver digital services more efficiently. Having AI infrastructure available within the region could ease some of the technological barriers faced by organisations that lack the resources to build and run advanced systems on their own.

Even so, affordability, reliable internet connectivity, data protection and access to technical skills remain key considerations for businesses weighing AI adoption.

Cassava Technologies operates across several technology sectors, including connectivity, cloud services, data centres and financial technology. This latest integration adds to the AI services already available through its infrastructure.

Ultimately, the impact of the development will depend on how widely African businesses take up the services, how dependably the infrastructure performs, and whether customers see measurable gains in cost efficiency and operational performance.
