Luno, the global cryptocurrency and investment platform founded in Africa, is using MoneyHash’s payment infrastructure to simplify payment management and support its continued expansion across markets. The partnership aims to reduce payment complexity while improving transaction performance and customer experience.

As Luno expanded, managing more than 25 payment provider and local bank connections created additional demands on its engineering and payments teams. Maintaining these integrations consumed time and resources that could otherwise be dedicated to developing core products and improving customer experience.

Through MoneyHash, Luno has consolidated its payment connections into a more centralised system, making it easier to introduce local payment options, manage providers and optimise transaction performance without separately building and maintaining every integration. The company has reduced engineering maintenance work, accelerated the launch of local payment methods and recovered one in four deposits that might otherwise have been lost.

Founded in 2021, MoneyHash provides payment infrastructure that enables businesses to manage providers, transaction routing and payment operations in one place. Its platform helps businesses gain greater control over payment performance and adapt to local market requirements without repeatedly rebuilding their payment systems.

MoneyHash Co-founder and CEO Nader Abdelrazik said Luno’s growth across markets demonstrates the importance of payment systems keeping pace with business expansion. He explained that MoneyHash helps reduce the complexity of managing multiple providers, allowing Luno to improve payment performance and focus on serving customers.

Founded in Africa in 2013, Luno has grown into a global crypto and investment platform serving millions of customers across multiple markets. As its operations expanded, meeting customers’ preferences for familiar local payment options required connections with different providers and banks, each with its own processes and reporting requirements. MoneyHash has helped simplify this arrangement by providing a centralised view of payment connections and performance.

Luno’s Head of Payments, Cornel Smit, said the partnership has allowed internal teams to focus on the company’s core services rather than managing payment integrations. He noted that working with a specialist payment infrastructure provider enables Luno to direct engineering resources towards revenue generation and building products for its users.

The partnership highlights the role of payment orchestration in helping businesses scale across diverse markets, particularly in Africa, where companies must balance international growth with local payment needs. As Luno continues to expand, the collaboration aims to ensure its payment infrastructure supports growth, improves transaction outcomes and reduces operational complexity.
