Elon Musk’s start-up, Neuralink, has announced that it has obtained approval from US regulators to conduct tests of its brain implants in human subjects. The approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) marks a significant milestone for Neuralink’s technology, which aims to establish a direct interface between the human brain and computers.
In a tweet, Neuralink expressed excitement about receiving FDA clearance for its first in-human clinical study, regarding it as an important initial step. However, the start-up has not yet opened recruitment for the clinical trial.

During a presentation in December, Musk explained that the purpose of Neuralink’s implants is to facilitate direct communication between the human brain and computers. He emphasized the need for cautiousness and certainty about the device’s efficacy before proceeding with human implantation.
