The electronic payment infrastructure for the Riyadh Buses project has been confirmed as ready by Saudi Payments, a subsidiary of the Saudi Central Bank. The Riyadh Buses project is part of the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project and aims to provide integrated solutions for public transportation in Riyadh.
Saudi Payments will offer flexible payment options to the project’s users, including contactless payment cards, which aligns with the financial sector development program’s goals of increasing digital payment adoption.

The partnership between Saudi Payments and the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) will help the project’s beneficiaries move around the city with ease and comfort via 842 buses in 80 bus lanes and 2,860 stations.
Beneficiaries will be able to pay for rides through the Mada card and Darb card, which are charged in advance through the Mada system. The Saudi Payments has worked on developing e-payment in public transportation and plans to continue expanding its acceptance in various sectors via different e-payment methods.
