Former Deloitte Global CEO Punit Renjen has been nominated to succeed Hasso Plattner as chairman of German software company SAP. Plattner has been leading the company for more than two decades and will step down from his role in May 2024. Renjen has been nominated by SAP’s supervisory board to join the board and has been proposed as Plattner’s designated successor.
In a statement, Plattner said that Renjen’s experience as a highly successful CEO of one of the world’s largest consulting firms and his deep understanding of customers’ needs and the broader industry make him an ideal candidate for chairman of the supervisory board from 2024 onwards.

Meanwhile, Renjen said that he was very pleased to be considered for a role at SAP and that he could not be more excited at the opportunity to help shape the future of a company that has unmatched relevance for global business.
Renjen served as Deloitte’s CEO from 2015 until the end of 2022. He said that at a time when the company is successfully transforming into an enterprise application leader in the cloud and delivering on Plattner’s original vision of helping the world run better and improving people’s lives, he is excited to help shape the future of SAP. Plattner added that while he will continue to chair SAP with passion and commitment until the baton is passed to the new leader, he will remain committed to SAP and its mission to help the world run better and improve people’s lives.
