Senegal has secured a commitment from US-based cybersecurity company Cybastion to mobilise approximately $300 million for digital transformation projects, as President Bassirou Diomaye Faye seeks to attract greater technology investment and strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.
The commitment was announced after President Faye met a Cybastion delegation led by Chairman and CEO Dr Thierry Wandji in Washington on 14 September 2026, during the first day of his working visit to the United States. The meeting formed part of his engagements with US private-sector stakeholders ahead of discussions with the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
The proposed funding will support several priority areas identified by the Senegalese government, including cybersecurity, the fight against cybercrime, data centre development, technology transfer and national capacity building.
Senegal’s local technology ecosystem is also expected to participate in the programme, with several startups set to be selected to help implement and develop the planned projects. The approach is intended to strengthen local technology companies and ensure that more of the value generated by the investments remains within the country.

The projects are expected to contribute to Senegal’s broader digital transformation by supporting stronger digital public services, improving the protection of personal data and creating opportunities for skilled employment. The programme is also intended to strengthen the country’s technological capabilities and support the development of a more competitive domestic digital ecosystem.
The initiative forms part of President Faye’s broader efforts to attract long-term investment and build partnerships that support Senegal’s economic and digital development. During the Washington engagement, he also held discussions with the US Chamber of Commerce and the Corporate Council on Africa as part of efforts to deepen commercial ties with US businesses.
The Cybastion commitment adds to Senegal’s efforts to develop stronger digital infrastructure and technological capacity. By combining investment in cybersecurity, data centres, technology transfer and local skills, the programme is expected to support the country’s ambitions for greater digital sovereignty and a stronger domestic technology sector.
