The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has inaugurated and inducted members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) as part of efforts to strengthen accountability and transparency within the Commission.
The National Commissioner/CEO of the NDPC, Dr Vincent Olatunji, delivered the opening remarks at the ceremony held at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja. He emphasised that public service is a position of trust and urged public servants to uphold honesty, accountability and transparency in carrying out their official responsibilities.
Dr Olatunji highlighted the importance of transparency in preventing corrupt practices, noting that the NDPC has measures in place to promote integrity within the organisation. He also expressed the Commission’s readiness to work with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to prevent and discourage corruption.

Representing the ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, at the event, the Director of Systems Study and Review Department, Mr Olusegun Adigun, commended the NDPC management for its commitment to accountability and transparency in executing its regulatory responsibilities.
He described the ACTU as an important complementary structure for preventing corrupt practices within government institutions and called on the NDPC management to support the newly inducted members as they carry out their responsibilities.
Dr Olatunji reaffirmed the NDPC’s commitment to supporting the new ACTU members and stressed the importance of accountability in the performance of public duties.
Both organisations also agreed to strengthen collaboration and provide mutual support in carrying out their respective mandates.
