Vertiv has announced a major upgrade to its SmartAisle solution, expanding its capabilities for edge computing deployments of up to 180 kW. Now available across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), the enhanced system integrates power, cooling, racks, and intelligent monitoring into a single, pre-engineered unit aimed at streamlining and accelerating edge deployments.
Designed with energy efficiency in mind, the updated SmartAisle aligns with the European Union’s Energy Efficiency Directive. It features built-in Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) monitoring, allowing organisations to track operational sustainability and meet responsible business objectives.
“The upgraded Vertiv SmartAisle really changes the game when it comes to effective and successful edge deployments,” said Giuseppe Leto, Senior Director of IT Systems Business at Vertiv in EMEA. “We’ve made it easier, faster, and more cost-effective for businesses to scale their IT operations, while complying with evolving regulatory requirements.”

The system includes the Vertiv RDU501, an intelligent infrastructure management appliance that enables real-time, 24/7 monitoring and control. This centralised platform simplifies oversight of both performance and energy efficiency.
According to Vertiv, the pre-engineered approach reduces planning, design, and site preparation time by up to 80%, and cuts deployment costs by as much as 30% compared to traditional brick-and-mortar alternatives. Additionally, the fully integrated system offers up to 20% higher energy efficiency than typical industry standards.
Available in four standard reference designs and scalable up to 180 kW IT load, the solution also includes N+1 redundancy for both power and cooling, ensuring high reliability for mission-critical edge environments.
The SmartAisle upgrade is part of Vertiv’s expanding portfolio of modular, flexible infrastructure offerings tailored for the rapidly growing edge computing market.
