VeriSilicon and Microsoft have announced a partnership aimed at creating powerful embedded platforms that will enable developers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to quickly create, deploy and develop IoT solutions on a trusted operating system with familiar development and management tools. The collaboration will also allow for easy device connectivity to the cloud through Microsoft Azure IoT.
VeriSilicon’s scalable line of application processors, including Hantro video accelerators, Vivante graphics/VIP neural network processors and image signal processors, will be the first platforms supported through this partnership. These application processors are designed with multi-core Arm x64-v8A processors and come with 15-year support from the fabless vendor.

The collaboration will leverage the same machine learning, graphics and media learning foundation that powers Xbox and Windows games to create rich and engaging user experiences on the desktop, now available to power devices at the edge running cutting-edge applications on a reliable and durable Windows foundation.
Wiseway Wang, Senior Vice President (SVP) and General Manager of the Custom Silicon Platform Division, praised the collaboration, stating that synchronized hardware and software development and collaborative design can greatly optimize resource allocation, improve development efficiency, reduce time-to-market and reduce project costs.
Kam VedBrat, General Manager of Azure IoT and Edge at Microsoft Corp., also commented on the partnership, noting that VeriSilicon’s comprehensive software development platform for Windows, combined with its long-term support offering, enables OEMs to deploy various devices, such as point-of-sale devices, industrial automation equipment, digital signage and medical devices, on a trusted and secure platform.
