Uber announces its new audio recording feature in Ghana. This is because the drivers need it for their roundtable session feedback. The feature will help record audio during trips for both the drivers and the passengers.
This feature which has been successfully launched in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa is such that the drivers can leave the feature on while seeking rides. Also, both the rider and driver will know the feature is available to others but then the driver will not know when the feature is being used, only the rider will be notified when the driver set up the audio recording. The audio cannot be listened to by anyone unless the rider or passenger submits a safety report which will be attached to an audio file and decrypted and reviewed by an Uber safety agent.
Uber believes the feature will improve the quality of the improves safety cases evidence. “We believe that this feature will improve the conduct of users of the Uber app, as drivers and riders hold each other accountable every step of the way. We have rolled this feature out in other markets where it has proven very successful, and we are hoping to see a similar uptake in Ghana.”
Saint-Lot also made it known that with the feature Verbal altercations, sexual conduct and other violations will be easy to investigate.

We’ll keep working to develop and deliver new features to help enhance safety and give users more peace of mind when using Uber.” Saint-Lot added.
