Africa-focused tech magazine, TechBerg has unveiled Yewande Akomolafe-Kalu, the Head of Storytelling and Branding at Flutterwave as its Woman in Tech Wednesday (WTW).

Yewande Akomolafe-Kalu is a Branding, Storytelling and Marketing Specialist with over 5 years of experience helping brands develop, grow, and market their services and products globally. Her expertise includes brand and marketing strategy, campaign strategy, monitoring and analysis, content and digital marketing, communications, and brand and reputation management.
According to findings, Yewande is passionate about telling stories and creating campaigns for brands that connect with the audience and grow trust, and visibility in a way that uniquely helps achieve commercial goals. She has successfully led content creation, branding and marketing teams across various industries like entertainment, fashion, beauty and financial services (Fintech).

With a degree in psychology from Birmingham City University and experience working in the fashion and entertainment industries, today Akomolafe-Kalu is the head of storytelling and branding of Flutterwave, one of Africa’s largest fintech companies.
She once attributed her success story to two individuals who according to her believed in her ability and potential.
“Two people believed in me when I didn’t have faith in myself: one, a friend who recommended me for a role that she couldn’t take, and two [Olugbenga Agboola] the CEO of Flutterwave whom she introduced me to. Before that, I’d worked in the entertainment space, the fashion industry, for a digital marketing agency and an e-commerce startup.”
She added that, “It’s safe to say that the state of the tech industry in Nigeria is advanced and innovative; we’re going above and beyond to provide solutions for everyday people to use and make their lives easier.”
